I’ve been suspicious about all this and had many of the same reservations myself that you mentioned within the report. Thanks for bringing new insights into all this regarding plr content, how to use it and the dangers.
It’s a refreshing change amongst all this ‘you need it’ plr article and unique article tools hype we’ve seen lately.
Jason says: Thanks John. This is partially why I felt compelled to write this report. I agree, the hype and “you need this” PLR sites/tools popping up every week is getting a little out of hand. Everybody wants the magic pill. But, there is no substitute for good old fashioned hard work!

Thanks! This is a tremendous and useful report. It affirms my belief that the Internet is moving in the direction of quality websites and away from get-rich-quick attempts. I’m tired of using search engines that lead me to spam sites and link farms, when I want to read authentic content. It’s a relief to know that those of us who create original content are on the right track!

I don’t know what type of image you’ve used for your link, but it doesn’t show up on my computer…

Excellent report!
You didn’t even mention some of the other blackhat mass-submission tools, like the blog trackback and comment spammers, the log (stats) spammers, etc. They don’t work either, they just tick people off. I have a little list I keep of people I won’t buy from - because they’re selling this junk.
The key, of course, is *interesting content for interested people*. Who cares if you get 1000 visitors because you’ve spammed your way into the engines? I’d rather have 10 visitors producing 2 sales than 1000 visitors producing 1 sale. (Of course, we’d all rather have a list of 10,000 converting 20%, but blackhat isn’t going to get you there.)

You are right on the money here guys! The days of black hat, ‘put up garbage and they will come’ sites is gone. This stuff worked in early 05 and 04 but plenty of my buds have watched their income drop from Google delisting their sites.
It’s happening more every day. Stick to solid content, quality sites, no black hat stuff and you will win in the long run. This is what the engines are saying.
I have no interest in building a 3 month business and wathc it vanish. I am only interested in building a biz that I can watch grow for months and years.

An interesting, well-written and informative report.
In an industry full to bursting with Gurus (is there a Guru production line somewhere out there?), it is lovely to read something which is to the point, not prolix and only very slightly self-congratulatory.
Well done and many thanks
Jason says: Thank you Alice

I agree with your comments on growing links slowly, but there are cases where a site can go from zero to hundreds over night which is with a very successful Press Release. Would this then make submitting a PR potentially bad?
You put up a brand new site for a new product and you pay for a top notch PR and over the course of 30 days with your PR in Yahoo and Google News sites all over the web pick up your PR and post it on their sites and blamo, you’ve got 800 links to your site. Are the SE’s now going to penalize your site for what was a great marketing campaign?
Thanks,
Stephen

Think about it, a search engine simply has to discount the backlinks a website get’s from article submission sites to guarantee relevence.
If other sites start publishing your articles, there will be a slow progressive growth of back links.. From quality, relevent, human edited sites..
Same is true for the PR sites.. Believe me, it WILL NOT hurt your rankings if every major newpaper site in the world started running your articles…
Jason says: You have some excellent points here Mike — slow growth of back links using articles. Also, if the search engines start penalizing mass links generated by press releases, then they might as well penalize RSS feeds while they are at it. Of course, this isn’t going to happen.

Jason ,
You rock… Great article …..the kind that the future (2006 and beyond) internet will be comprised of …..Quality “Meat & Potatoes” with a side of honesty…..what a concept…..Paris
Jason says: Thanks! The name of the game in 2006 is quality AND quantity content. And that combination is something that many people won’t invest the time (or effort) to do it effectively.

Jason - great report on article submission. However, I’m not sure what “Big Daddy” @ Google is doing. If they are suppose to deliver more relevant search, then why does the term “factoring” @ 64.233.179.104 produce 5.8 million more results than the the same search at google.com?

I got a quick question for you.
I have been slowly adding articles to my websites using a few
different tools. A few new articles on this page, a few on another site,
so on and so forth.
Now what I have also been doing is using RSS Content builder to add
some what unique, and pertinent text and content to the bottom of the page.
Do you think this will help any with the duplicate content filters?
I try and make each pages, meta tags unique, and Alt. text too. As well as
the side bars on the page. Since I am not working with private label articles
I can not change this up.
So what would you suggest to a person that is adding articles to his websites
like me?
Thanks,
Keith

I have been trying to access the report (and it sounds like a great one) for the past three days with no luck. I have used IE and Firefox and cannot bring the report up in Adobe Reader.
I have used both links - can you help? I hate to miss out on this great info.
Thanks,
Brad

This might not be the best place to post, but I can’t find any other support email address.
I’ve “successfully” installed the latest OrwellPro. When I try to run it, I get the following:
vbaIListViewLib
Run-time error ‘429′: ActiveX component can’t create object
followed by:
Orwell
Run-time error ‘440′: Automation error.
Any hints on how to fix this???
Regards,
Éric

I am already feeling the pinch from these black softwares etc. and I am just an innocent bystander.
Since I am new to blogs and rrs feeds I am not quite sure what I am doing but…….
I tried to install a simple php index file that contained
a rss newsline feed containing 6 links for my readers and found that my host has disabled php temporarily because of these types of spamming softwares. They are using up resources way beyond their fare share with the spamming and my host has stopped all php pages
while they figure out what to do.
February 25th, 2006 at 8:52 pm
I would find another web host to work with.
That is not an option… turning of a service like that.
You are paying for it they should provide it.
February 26th, 2006 at 4:14 am
Hi Claire. If you are using a low-end hosting account, sometimes they will do this. However, a simple RSS feed php script shouldn’t bring any web server to its knees.
As Keith said, I’d shop around for another web host.

Fantastic report Jason, this is very similar to what Ken Evoy (over at SBI!) has been saying for years.
I’d been considering subscribing to one of those article submission sites you mentioned, not anymore though… Article Announcer it shall surely be!
Great stuff Jason, keep up the good work!
Shalom (peace)!

So what is the keyword density “sweet spot” mentioned in the report?
June 3rd, 2006 at 1:59 pm
Great advice Jason,
A very well argumented report!!!
July 17th, 2006 at 6:55 am
I am a bit confused. It would seem that the article announcer would be more harmful than helpful.
